Moved to the US in oh four to be with the woman I fell madly in love with, married her, and finding myself still madly in love with her.

Did first line customer support for a Windows online banking program for about a year, then second line support for custom installations of existing programs, security management, application design and documentation for one of the world’s largest accounting firms, the latter for about six years. Then — because of the expected move to the US — quit that job a teeeeeeny bit prematurely and got by doing odd jobs updating a hospital’s antivirus software, updating an oil company’s hardware, and installing fancy touch screen cash registers that used Windows XP Embedded.

When my green card here came through, I applied for a job at a call center, where I’m now in my third year. I only spent about 6 months on the phones before I was pulled off to help out the assistant reports analyst when he became ex-assistant. Now, I spend most of my time at work automating Excel, pulling reports from all kinds of places, and making sure people get paid - correctly and on time.

In my spare time, I like to fiddle around with PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic (none of that fancy .Net stuff, yet, although I am catching on), ASP, VBS and VBA,

That’s when I’m not spending some quality time with the misses, or reading one of the several hundred SF- or Fantasy novels she and I own, or watching Alton Brown show off his cooking skills.

And in case you’re wondering: yes, I do feel entitled to bestow my opinions and acquired knowledge upon the world.

I loves to read. SF and Fantasy mostly, but a good whodunnit or thriller is always welcome (I have the entire Stephen King collection, now working on making it all hardcover.)

And listen to music (hard rock (but none of that trash or speed metal crap, and don’t even mention Dethklok), prog rock, indie, and music from the 80s.

And movies. I loves me a good movie. As long as it ain’t got Owen or Luke Wilson or Will Ferrell in it.

Ooh! Ooh! I also love watching cooking shows, especially the competitive ones. I dream of being on The Next Food Network Star, but then I realize I’d be wayyyy out of my league…

… but I do love to cook. I make a mean sateh, and a peanut sauce that’s simply amazing.
