Stephen King’s The Mist

It has been said that Stephen King is such a prolific author, he could get away with sending his shopping list to his publisher, and people would buy it en masse. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing depends on who you ask.
There was a time when the phrase “Stephen King’s Movie Of The Week” was coined… the sheer amount of novels, novellas and short stories he wrote that have been turned into movies is… well, let’s just say “overwhelming”. A lot - if not most - of these movies fall in the category “I want my two hours back”.
The Mist is not one of those; given the basic premise of the story (a severe thunderstorm causes something, somewhere, to go horribly wrong, and a strange, smoke-like mist covers the unleashing of unmentionable horrors upon the world (or at least upon a part of the state of Maine), it could have easily ended up being YASMoM (Yet Another Scary Monster Movie.)
From the capable hands of Frank Darabont, however, what you’re left with is a movie that has you sitting at the edge of your seat from start to finish, up into the very unexpected finish.
